Woo its been pretty hot lately. Thankfully the building and office I work in is air conditioned so intensely that I still wear my coat to work. At home, all of the electronics in the apartment only add to our despair. And its only at the cost of money to have every fan on pointing every which direction... (note to self, buy a camera or they wont believe it..)

On a side note, Hurrah, im building up all my lost muscle in my upper torso, my torn muscle in my shoulder is healing ever so slightly and the injury is finally fading away. Now, I have been back at the climbing gym slowly regaining my strength and soon, I should be able to climb V4's more regularly again. Of course now, all my friends have stepped it up to climbing v5's and higher OTL.

I don't really consider myself a man of vanity, but I will say, that If I can take a picture of myself, I want to at least get back into the figure I approve myself to be. So I have been trying to work out hard to return to that state. Well just as hard as sitting on my ass 12+ hrs a day only to get up to do a few hrs of exercise lol. Then finally I'll upload a more recent picture of me. GSWs knife scars and all (.. jk).

Man, I thought it was tragic that my boss came in 2 weeks ago to tell me that my contract might have to be cut short a month due to insufficient funds in the department we are in. I was rather distressed when I heard it. But eventually after the fact that my rent was not paid properly and I received my 2nd Eviction notice (in the last 2 months) seemed to supersede my attention. However, FINALLY after a heartache of calling their callcenter to pay fucking an additional $30 to pay my rent via phone I managed to get those pressing 'bills' off my chest. After I forgot about the poor news from my work, my boss just came in to tell me he's working on getting the funds to keep me on board until my contract expires as it was suppose to (1 month later than the early termination), so that was good news. Also he said he has recommended me to another group that I did some work for with him in MSR as well so I can stay and work in the same building! Now im excited because if I get this job, then I can keep my prestigious title of being a surviving member of the software and design engineer for microsoft research, rawr.


Now for the art shatting:

Ugh, working from home is hard. Especially when you are trying not to be distracted with paintchat and when the paintchat server desides to roll back 3 weeks of data. But then again, last 2 nights I have been up very late reprogramming 200 of these bastards


Lately I have been drawing side by side with Tetsu. I am absorbing all the skill he radiates. *grabs at empty air*. i havent quite made it there, but i hope to keep improving over time. Lately ive been drawing by ref of other artists, well mainly this specific one:

I think its the fact that im drawing in pchat and not a real art program. But then again, satou always seems to defy the pchat boundaries when it comes to that lol.

ahh..... and my roommate is gone out of the week *YES*. My roommate lately has been getting sick with who knows what and is always like, "GIVE ME A HUG BIG GUY *COUGH COUGH* *BLAHHHGGHHRGH*". Luckily, I have always riposte his hugs to my other roommate. En garde.

Lets talk paintchat for a second. Its sad that nobody really is working close with me with all the work that has gone to upgrade this website. The amount of knowledge that was required for this upgrade stretches all the way from ridiculous apache administration to coding java for the paintchat server.

Here is a list of skills and how I used them for this project:

• SQL - used to manage the phpbb, which comes with installment, but then we added our own tables and columns to support paintchat data.


• Php - the foundation of PHPBB, and to reuse the same forum interface, i just wrote my own pages, including using a nice pattern they had for servicing html template pages. Looks very similar to Rails to be honest.


• HTML (duh), but, more Javascript, and javascript's sidekick: AJAX - I wanted to make the webpage more web 2.0 with its content requesting without leaving the page. Easy to do when you've been doing AJAX for a few years


• Java - It was a pain reverse engineering the existing shichan website, but after chugging data through a decompiler, and fixing the bugs by hand, I was able to recreate the shichan server, and modify the client so it would accept extra parameters that could be passed via php.
  Ontop of that, I wrote my own interface that a php socket could connect to to make requests to the paintchat server via the webpage. This is how the who is drawing list is done, and other administrative commands.


• Apache configuration - .. the lamest but required to get everything right.

I really like the way paintchat is coming along now. With the log last a lot longer than normal, we have been doing huge collaborations! Good fun!

As summer coming along.. I an reaping my rewards for paying for a poolside apartment view. OMG its just so awesome outside today, and the way the light shines into my apartment in the morning it looks like paradise. Just waiting for the hotties to start sunbathing right outside my deck and I think i'll join them (in spirit).



I have almost deployed the new niko website, the only problem is that Nikos current version of apache/php does not support OpenSSL. Thus making it impossible to send out email under todays standards. Since email is not working, people cannot register to the site, and thus we are stuck in deadlock. Im waiting for niko to return and reply to my emails about upgrading the version of those services to support the new site. THEN IT SHALL BE GLORIOUS.



Meanwhile, I am SLOWLY getting better at drawing these mech girls.. I must say im no where near panties (the guy..) in making them look awesome, but im starting to add volume to the armor to make it look more realistic in a fantasy way.

Oh man.. my office, like my art is a blurry mess. I finally attempted to take a picture from the camera on my phone but I can't tell if I'm shaking my hand at the moment i take the picture, or the camera is just that horrible~

My contract is nearing its end in a few months and I have not decided where to go with my career. I would like to continue working here under my current manager, as he is the coolest manager I've ever worked with and is always smiling and supporting my crazy ideas. It really just comes down to me asking about finding similar work or if he would like to take me under his wing as full time. Unfortunately, I have already made a commitment of pursuing grad school and he is behind me on that. Blahh its too much to think about, I'll have to graze over the ideas a bit longer.

In other news, the muscle in my triceps is still ripped.. and not like burly ripped but, mortally injured.. without it being a mortal wound.. ugh. Its the 3rd time i've ripped this muscle in the past 4 years. I need to go into a doctor and see if theres something else I can do to have it heal faster. When my arm is broken, I miss most of my weekly exercise climbing with my friends. Without climbing, I have to force myself twice a week to go down to the fitness center and hop on some machines for 30-45 minutes to burn all that energy I get from doing nothing else throughout the week.

One time I saw poi (solid snake on niko's) draw some of her usual badass art and then color in with the background color, and I figure I would try that too... fail..

Well at least I tried.. sorta.. MKage fixed my sword, before it was all wobbly because I couldnt draw a straight line in that angle.



More messsyy art.. That is suppose to be one of those titanium handcuffs thingies.. that attach to your neck and that are on a bar so you are restricted in your movement.. I got one of those at home under my bed for when the girls' visit.



Finally, Kuraa came to visit pchat, and she always leaves a vivid image of her doing this stuff as casual as smoking a cigarette.

Now here is the pinnicle of angle, pose and bg.. ok a couch. I thought it came out ok aside from the poor detail in the hands.



More cellar FCP art that has burned a whole in my head, I have mesmorised this pose several times over, its my favorite foreshorten pose to draw.



I also love this pose, although not my own, of course im sure every pose imaginable has been drawn one time or another, and this is still an alteration of the original!

I swear that mouth was the result of like 10 'oops', then finally 'oh that fits, hey that actuallly looks pretty good'.

This is one of those, 'what the fuck am i drawing' moments, where the background sort of manifested itself out of nowhere. The proper approach is to draw the bacground first :P



In this drawing i had to question myself on a few things

• Does htat look like a gun or a pleasure rod
• is the head to flat, is the hair make the head look awkward? ok fuckit add goggles. problem solved.

The hard part about doing this style is that when you have layers inside darkness how to draw them so you can tell they don't all belong apart of the same blackness. Like theres a skirt which is sort of goes under the cloak but I just didnt get those details out~ better luck next time



Now believe it or not, thats the best ass ive ever drawn... even if the top half of the body doesnt look like it could stretch to the bottom half

FAIL FIGHT. They look like they are doing something naughty. They were suppose to be caught in a moment of passion. A passionate fight. They didnt have to be naked but I sort of gave up on my process of clothing them when i failed the back one's legs like 90 x sighgon.











The idea is solid, but i ended up changing pchat rooms so I just snapshotted and pasted here. There are many things that can improve, like.. the straightness of objects and their orientation.

Roaring through the studies !

Well I figured I would start posting my scrapbook material outside of Deviant Art. I really like DA but I would like to keep my sketchbook of random shit i drew up separate from work i might spend a couple hours on.

Almost 99% of my work will be the work inside paintchat. I find that social application for drawing together very addictive. It allows me to satisfy my passion for both drawing and chatting at the same time.





Here.. was suppose to be Mitsuru from P3 lol. This style allows me to play around with solid black and whites to define the volume of the drawing. I really enjoy this style, very satisfying.

Holy smokes I havent written in this journal since I started my job. Well I guess a simple update would be suffice.

About 8 months ago, I was contracted by Microsoft Research to work with the Network Embedded Computing team. My projects vary across the board due to rapid development of ideas and research from my team. But enough about that! I can write all this down on my resume when the time comes.

I really do not know what to write about.

Long story short. Working my ass off to receive a grant of money from Microsoft Research in order to continue paying my salary at the university working as a 'Research Engineer'.

Meanwhile, I am looking for a house with 2 other roommates, but I need to get a solid income before I can devote any of my resources to a down payment.

On top of that, temporarily living with my parents, fucking, SIGH.

I have zilch friends who are artists or are interested in the subject irl. So now that my collaborative environment has came to a halt - Niko's PChat, I am trying to make contacts based on the relationships I have developed with the some the other artists that also drew there. Hense, this account.
